Healthcare

Narú health workers are all qualified to provide basic care and education in the field, but it is our clinic that delivers expertise in child and maternal health, including:

--

Care of pregnant women and girls
Review of mother and baby in post-natal confinement
Reproductive health and screening
Family planning education and methods
Addressing the symptoms of severe malnutrition in mother and child.

--

Medical attention and support are also provided in circumstances that pose a risk for children’s wellbeing; where the mother has died in childbirth or either parent is suffering a terminal illness, for example.

Through collaborations with city-based organisations, the clinic is moreover able to source intervention for conditions such as cleft palate, spina bifida, club feet and cancers that would otherwise go untreated – particularly in the more remote communities that Narú covers.

Spina Bifida Occulta

This condition is thought to result from a combination of genetic, nutritional and environmental factors. Narú seeks out treatment and provides follow-up for the cases we detect in the communities

Club Foot

In most cases the cause of club foot is not known, but it will severely hamper an adult's ability to work in a country that has no welfare provision for the disabled. Correcting the condition is a long process, but Narú supports the family’s efforts throughout.
